Qui-Gon Jinn costume coming together

#1 Post by Snapp » 09 Jun 2015, 22:12

Hi all.

I'm not in any way an expert in sewing, neither do I have the time for it.
So I took the decision to let those who can do it, do it for me for money.
Bad... I know... but... it will be awsome!

I have let Clothears Costumes in UK to do the costume.
And next week I will get it. But they have been very nice to send me some pictures.

One and a half year ago I ordered and payed for the boots to be made by JDOS in Peru.
It is one of the best shoe- and bootmakers out there. However...
I have come to notice that he is the most time optimistic person in the world as well.
His first mail told me that it normally takes 5 weeks, but that he has so much to do that it would take 5 months.
So... I order a pair of Qui-Gon boots.
Now... 18 months later I have still mail conversation with him and the last mail he wrote he said that the boots will be finnished in two weeks. That was more then a month ago.
It's getting a bit frustrating.

I have ordered belt pouches from http://shop.civilizedgalacticgear.com/
That guy was very short in his mailing and never answered a mail after I have transfered the money.
So I never got an estimate of timing, but... they have been recommended from several others so I hope it will all be fine.

In any case... the clothes are arriving next week and I can't wait! :)

Yes. They didn't send a picture on that though, cause the robe was the last piece they did and sent the package right after that.
I will definately put everything on and take pictures and post them here when I have the costume. :)

Here is a first picture with clothes on. They arrived today.
I will wait to take better pictures when the boots and belt pouches has been made.
I had to put an appropriate background to it. :)

Today the pouches arrived along with food caps and comlink made by http://civilizedgalacticgear.com.
And they look great! The pouches are made in leather and can be used to put stuff in them.
Just awsome!

I do feel that I'm not really worthy in a way, since I haven't done a bit of my own clothing.
But I just don't have the knowledge to make them.
I have so much respect for those who do their own clothing and gears. It's an amazing job you guys do.

Now I only wait for the boots from JDOS.
I hope it will arrive soon.
When I get them... I am ready to send in an application. :)
