Feedback on early draft for Nihilus mask

Post by henkaa » 22 Feb 2016, 09:44

Hi
(if this post is in the wrong, subforum, please move it)

I am fairly new to builds so please be gentle :)

I have started on a Nihilus mask and want your feedback. Basically, the only thing made so far is the basic shapes. Some sandpapering has been made but not done there yet. So no painting done and the details on top is not started. I just felt I want feedback on the shape, so I know if I am on the right path or not :)

Both positive and negative feedback is appreciated. And please be constructive.

ps. I know that some minor detailing on the eyes need to be made .ds

Looks like a good start, a bit tweaking on the shape is needed as you said.

But keep up the job!!!

Nice thinking of merging the pictures :) It even gave me an idea if I have to start over with the mask

Is the wide nose and the difference in the rounding of the eyes going to be an issue? (with the eyes I mean the rounding of the lower-outer part, where I with reference in mind need to fill up).
My thought with the excess on the sides is that it is hidden by the hood anyways. Any thought on that?
And finally, how important are those "lines" marking the cheek bones? I may be able to add them with some padding :) (and of cause get rid of the "mouth" with the same padding)

Sorry about the big pictures, if you ganna make it yourselfe i have some tips for you.
1. Make it a litt heavy it will look better, with heavy eges ,I used paper clay and it worked very well
2. You can have an under mask under, I used a plain black face mask and it works well, and its supports the white skull too becouse its a bit heavy.
3. And just try to get a reference to work with from conespt art, or ingame screen shots.
4. and Good luck! :D I hope this helps

Hi.
After a big break on this project I got new motivation to get back on my feet and continue. And I do so by going from scratch (almost).

In this early draft I printed the outline of the mask on my head sculpture. The eyes I made by making a copy on paper of the most correct eye on my previous papier mache mask and altering it according to 4918 (Janne) mixpicture. With this copy I know that the new eyes are identical in shape :)

The only two things I am not that sertain on is:
* if the lower part should be lower than the lips or not.
* If the top part is to high or not.
