SL - Sith Lord - Darth Sidious / Emperor Palpatine

501st Legion Sith Lord detachment: http://www.501stsithlords.com.

For help with this costume, please contact: SL-4918

The following guide is partially based on the 501stsithlords CRL.

BlackRobes (as seen in Ep III and Ep VI)

Inner robe
Black floor length robe should have straight sleeves with no bunching at wrist. Should have a mandarin style collar that is not higher than 3,5 cm from the clavicle.
Inner robe may be made of crepe, raw silk or cotton or any material that has no shine. The inner robe can be no more than 5 cm from the floor to the hem.

Pants
Black pants tuck into boots (unless.

Sash
The sash should be the same material as the inner robe and should be anywhere between 5-9 cm inches in width and should extend to the bottom of the wearer’s knees

Outer robe
Black, non glossy fabric with a “waffle” style weave or texture.
Robe falls from the shoulders to the hem which should be 2,5 cm or less above the floor.

Sleeves should reach to middle of wearer’s hands. Top of sleeves should be permanently gathered to not more than 9 cm. Bottom of the sleeves should extend to just below wearer’s knees when hands are folded across wearer’s stomach.
Yoke seams or seams that appear at wearer’s chest are not allowed.
Hood should consist of either one piece or two pieces sewn together with the seam running down the center of the hood. Hood should (if needed) contain flexible wire, metal or plastic hidden within the seam to enable the wearer to see clearly and allow the hood to remain open. Using heavy fabric and lining it might be enough (see image to the right).

If lining the outer robe, be sure to use the same material as on the outside.

Brooch/Clasp
The MR brooch can be used, however if the brooch is to be made it must have a high gloss finish.
Carved or sculpted and can contain pin style backings or clasp style backings. Brooch should measure no more than 4,5 x 7 to 5 x 7,5 cm.
I would recommend using Cernit clay and simply shape it by hand, then bake it in the oven and paint with high closs paint.

Cane
MR cane cane can be used; however I would suggest making one out of wood. The MR cane can easily chip while trooping. If the cane is made, it should be made of wood, resin, or aluminum. The finish should be glossy black and as closely as possible resemble the cane used by the Emperor.

Boots/shoes
Black lace less boots or shoes with rounded toe. If shoes are used they should be completely black and of the slip on, lace less variety.

Prosthetics
Prosthetics should be multi or single part appliances made from silicone, gel, , foam or slush latex. Masks and mask parts cut up to form prosthetics will not be accepted. The prosthetic appliance(s) should allow freedom of facial expression and should be colored and blended well.

Contact lenses
Contact lenses are required for this character. Lenses should be yellow to light orange tinted with red or black fringes around the circumference of the lens. This lens requirement may be waived at the discretion of the LMO or GML for reasons of inability of the wearer to use lenses due to health reasons.

Approved Options (for EPIII Palpatine only)
Lightsaber: MR Sidious 1:1 replica, equivalent looking machined aluminum or resin-cast saber. Luxeon or Hyperdyne style equivalent looking sabers are also acceptable but not required.
