It's important to note that Revan is a Sith Lord from Knights of the
Old Republic, and so the costume is based on the computer graphics
used in the game. This leaves room for interpretation, which is also
one of the cool things about it. What is written here is in no way
set in stone, just what I did, and what I know.
Mask and Balaclava / Neck Warmer
Revan's facepiece is in fact a mask and not a helmet as some people
have suggested, covering only the higher front part of your head,
and a narrow mandible covering most of your mouth, hence the need
for a balaclava or motorcycle neck warmer to cover the lower part of
your face and your neck. Please note that you must install a dark
plastic strip to cover the eye slit.
I use a neoprene neck warmer because I like the look when you take
the mask off, but to do that in public, you would need Sith contact
lenses. This costume is REALLY hot, because your face is covered in
tight fitting materials, allowing no air to circulate. Remember to
drink loads of fluids between wearing the costume.
Alternately you can use a balaclava to cover your skin.
Inner Soft Parts
What you need is a pair of black trousers and a somewhat tight
fitting black long-sleeved shirt. Any kind will do really.
The skirt/martial arts trousers are basically a skirt tied at your
waist, and must have an opening in front, ideally it should have an
opening in the back too.
Armour
Revan´s armour is divided into 4 pieces: Chest, abdominal, vambraces
and hand plates.
The chest and abdominal armour should go around the back and cover
that as well, but the Legion accepts Revan costumes that only cover
the front, like mine.
The vambraces should be circular and cover the arm, but the Legion
accepts vambraces that only cover half of the arm.
Belt with O-rings and Fabrics
Placed on the bottom edge of the abdominal armour, there is a row of
small o-rings. In the middle there is a larger o-ring with black and
scarlet fabric attachments. This is attached to the hard armour
parts.
Gloves
Any kind of black gloves will do, as long as they go above your
wrist. The gloves I use are nomex pilots gloves because they have a
tight fit and give you a lot of sensation in your fingers you wear
them. I also like the look of them, the combination of leather and
fabric. They can be purchased at any military surplus store.
Cape
The cape should be box pleated, although you can get the same effect
by folding it on your back. It’s important to note that the cape
should not be wider than your back, meaning that it shouldn’t go
over your shoulders.
Hood
The hood is separate from the cape. You’ll need to find a pattern
for it, because it’s very intricate in its design. The hood should
also cover the shoulders.
Lightsabre
Ultimately you should have two lightsabres: one red and one purple.
Revan is shown having both and also only wielding one red. The
choice is yours. Master Replicas have not manufactured this
lightsabre, so you’ll need to find somebody who does. A quick Google
search should point you in the right direction. The lightsabre(s)
should be similar to the one pictured here.
