A question about Stormtrooper FX armor

Post by NFerno »

Hello, I´m fairly new to Stormtrooper costuming, but I´ve done some research today about where to find Stormtrooper armor kits, and I´ve found out that there are quite a few vetted sellers in the US, but also in the UK, according to FISD. But recently I found out about a movie replica store located in Sweden that sells Stormtrooper armor kits; http://www.cinemareplicas.com/
I know that most people avoid buying Stormtrooper armor from websites and commercial stores, but I live in Sweden, (and I don´t have the largest budget AND it doesn´t need much assembling, which is good because I´m not the handiest person) and it would be quite nice to order from within the borders of the country without having to pay the extra shipping fee if I were to order from, say the US armor makers.
But is the Trooper FX armor even any good? It seems legit. It´s factory made, I guess, but it´s not Rubies supreme edition at least. Do you think it´s even worth buying? Or is it more worth to spend some extra money and buy a really good handcrafted one like AM?: http://www.tk1336.com/am.html
Please tell me what You think, the help is very much appreciated.

And here´s another pic from the FX armor i linked; http://www.bankler.se/trooper.html the person that sold this armor said it was identical to the one for sale on the store.

Hi there :)

I know you can trust cinema replicas, I got mine from there, but I'm not mistaken I don't think they're selling it anymore.
Anyway, even if I got the FX armor myself I bough it 2007 and a lot has happened since then so you can get a lot better armor for the same amount of money.
So no, I don't think it's worth buying the fx! You can't even get approved these days with the helmet you get in the kit due to the huge size of it :P

In a min/day or two I'm sure some hardcore stormtroopers here on the forum will guide you at the right direction where to start and what kit to buy. But if you havn't yet, it's never wrong to check out http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/

And don't worry about the building issue. It's not much difference building an FX or TM. Just a bit more of trimming.

I contacted cinema replicas and they said that they will order more if someone orders one from cinema replicas, so it´s a to-order item.. but I read somewhere that the FX armor kits aren´t manufactured anymore? Or is that the custom armor kits, the person who now makes AM armor?
And thanks for the fast reply!

FX kits are sold on Ebay, and somewhere else as well, unfortunately. The sellers ALWAYS say that they are selling best and accurate costume, and that is bull...

I have one FX set myself, with better helmet, and I am ok with it. I like the thick plastic on it, I can just drop the armour off to floor without any damage.

I'd recommend you to get in contact with either Troopermaster (TM), or RS Props Studios for TK armours. Both are good sellers with RS guys having a mould of original screen used AHN Stunt costume. Both are quite easy to put together, saying that after putting both TM and RS together, and with the cost of an FX, anywhere you buy it, you are not that far from the better costumes.

Remember that if you buy an FX, you need to buy a better helmet for it. The original that comes with it is so disformed and big that it is not approved anymore. Thus, the cost is about the same for FX set + new bucket, or a better set from the start..

8000,-?! Not for a fx.
Got mine much cheaper from Walt's trooper Factory.
It just got the highest level of approval on 501st, so
it's good.

Pm me if you want to know more

I know the owner of cinemareplicas.. well.. atleast i used to know him. Back in the glory days CR was a good and reliable source for all movie replicas. Sadly this is not the case anymore.

He will gladly take your money up front but wont be able to guarantee anything and at the slightest hint of trouble he will simply ignore you.. I can't find the reviews on Rejta anymore but they weren't any good.

But here you can read some reviews of his business on a car forum. (He also owns a Mercedes styling shop)

There is one of the good ones that are available from UK. No customs on these, to my knowledge at the least.

http://www.rspropmasters.com/product/armor-helmet-kit/

Latest info on the waiting time. I asked about these, and the folks said that about 4 weeks. Just keep in mind that there is a certain movie coming, and all.. I was promised two weeks for a fully painted Boba Fett jetpac few years ago. Was over two months, but who cares... The quality of the paintjob was superb.

As are their other stuff. Recommended, sure!
