ABS or PVC

Post by Rover »

Hi guys.

I'm looking at a Complete Stormtrooper armour from RS, but I have a question for you all. What do you all prefer, ABS or PVC? I know ABS is the most movie authentic, but it has a tendency to 'yellow' over time, and PVC don't...but what do you all say?

Not all ABS yellows that much: it depends on the particular brand and alloy of ABS that the armour maker uses.
Yellowing is mostly from bromine in flame retardant compounds that are present in some ABS alloys. You should better ask the maker directly.

... or you could go for the new brand which is a mix called ABC... ;)

The ABC..ah yes...that must be it ;) Well, I'm in Denmark and looking at the RS Props armour. I'm actaully less 'worried' about yellowing, than I am, at not being the same colour as most other troopers. I don't want to appear bright white, if everyone else is slightly cream white. So I'd basically would be more likely to get whatever everyone else have for the optimal look.

Nothing wrong with ABS. Easy to work with, and very durable.

I ordered the PVC from RS. Scheduled to arrive in early january. I´ve seen pictures of both and i can't see much difference in them. They both looks great. I went for the PVC because of the yellowing....

@Snakeman could you please drop a 'review' here when it arrives? It's exactly the one I was thinking about getting myself :) The PVC basically because I read on some 501st American forum, that it should be more flexible for trooping.
