I had to remake the pattern of the back of My vest, the size was perfect BUT i didn't like that the curved seems were to far apart.... and Then after putting almost all pieces (not shoulderpads or armpieces) on My fabric I realised that 1,6m IS enought!! Lol well good for me if I mess up!

I was planing on doing ladderstiching (myrgång) as the pictures shows a similar stitching BUT Then I found this video of stolphålsöm that i posted earlier.... I tried it on a linenfabric I bought and I'm not pleased with the result... even though I think it Will be more noticeable than the ladderstiching.... so I would need som advice... I did the ladderstitching at the same time on the same piece on linen to make IT more easy to competenz... keep in mind that this linenfabric Will not be showing at all on the vest, only the stitching...

almost there with the vest!

I started sewing yesterday and I'm amazed by how well it went! May have to do some changes later on but right now I will fokus on the lining and to get the collard to "stand" up properly.... then I will go nuts with some ladder stitching!!! Maybe even start with my pants today!!!

What kind of fabric have you used for the vest?

Following this with interest, as I would like to make this costume too :)

I was lucky and founded just the fabric I was looking for, a heavyweight coating fabric in a discreet color. Many fabrics are in two colors- a darker and a lighter... I founded it in a medieval store where many buy there fabric for Viking costumes... this fabric is wool and cashmere... and super nice!

I finished with my vest this week!!! I'm sooooo happy!!! As you can see I did do the ladderstitching as I first attended to do.... I turned my fabric upside down under the stitching so that they would show off more... the shoulder pads... well where shall I begin.... that was the tricky part.... I think I had to remake them 4 times before I finally cracked it and figured out a perfect pattern.... I didn't use the same fabric until I was sure I would nail it!!!! That was smart.... but I focused so Mitch on them and on the collar that I missed out that the vest actually was approximately a size 42... I have 38... so I hade to take it in a bit at the end.....

Then I started with the pants... ohhhh... that was not easy... I've never ever made a pair of pants before..... I wanted to use the same pattern as the one from my favorite jeans.... that was NOT a good idea.... did I mentioned it was stretchjeans? Even though I made the pants like 4 sizes bigger than my jeans they did not fit.... so I had to throw away my very expensive cotton denim fabric and use a regular cotton fabric I luckily had at home..... I then took my husbands fancypants (with no stretch) and cut out a. Ew pair of pant.... this time it ended up with a perfect fit! I did a zipper at the front and drewed the pattern on the knee pad.... the ridges at 5,25 cm each. I also did this folded line 3cm above the knee pads but only on the front of the pants....

Also I cut out the fabric of the shirt. I'm supper happy with this fabric! I was worried that I would not be able to use my sewing machine on this stretchy fabric but that was not a problem, just ad the vendor promised me!

Now here are the pictures I had in front of me to guid me doing my patterns on the vest, pants and shirt!
