Should I buy a commercially available costume?

Good tools, guides, etc for people building costumes.

Should I buy a commercially available costume?

Post by 5573 »

If you want to join the 501st Legion then the short answer is, "No." The costumes that are available in the shops do not meet our standards for quality and are often a much higher price than you really need to pay.

If, on the other hand, you just want to dress up as Darth Vader for Halloween, then go right ahead and buy in your local costume shop.

That accounts for Rebel Legion, too. Sometimes you can find something good that will pass with minor things done, but do your research and don't go for the cheapest you can find. Remember: you get what you pay for.

If you do buy from a vendor make sure it will be made to your measurements.

Individual items can often be found and bought. Whole costumes, not so much. (Not of the right quality).

Never, ever buy a jedi costume from Costume Base. I mean it. Don't. Just don't.
