A pre-armour Darth Vader costume MUST have:

Should be naturally brown and of the proper length and style (long shag/modified ‘Alexander the Great’ cut), or should be a wig depicting this colour and style.

A karate gi style shirt with a tighter cuff / wrist area. The colour is similar to DMC floss #3371. It is not visible below the hemline of the outer tunic, and should be either hip length or tucked in. The original material was silk in an irregular weave, and a similarly light and suitably textured fabric should be used.

A karate gi style tunic made of a heavy cotton waffle / crinkle weave fabric (such as Calcutta) in dark brown (similar to DMC floss #3371). The sleeves are more flared at the wrists than the inner tunic. The outer tunic ends mid-thigh.

Made of the same material as the outer tunic, with the texture running vertically. These extend to the bottom of the outer tunic in the front and to the waistline in the back.

Should be made from a fine grained leather, sheepskin, or leather-like material, dark brown in colour (similar to DMC floss #3371). The tabards are two sided (lined with the same leather). The width of the tabard should be from the top of the collar bone to an inch or two off of the shoulder, and should have a seam at the top, as well as at the waistline. The leather tabards are approximately 3" longer than the outer tunic.

The obi or sash should be made from the same material as the outer tunic, and should be about twice as wide as the belt. The texture should be on a diagonal, not running horizontally.

Layered, with the bottom / base belt being 2¼" wide and an accent belt centred on top of it being ¾“ wide. Both are a deep russet brown. The accent belt has a silver buckle (rectangular snap closure type). The accent belt is held in place with four pairs of “Don Hume” style silver stud/posts rivets, mounted in and equally spaced around the outer belt. There are three pouches on the belt. One is a snap closure style in leather (positioned on the right hip). One is a custom resin pouch in a red brown (positioned on the back side of the left hip). And the third is a resin grappling hook pouch in a medium brown (positioned on the back side of the right hip). Eight food pellet capsules, two in each of gold, silver, copper, and gunmetal are attached to the belt as is a Covertec clip for the lightsaber.

A dark brown leather or leather-like (original was sheepskin) gauntlet style glove with three straps of similar material and corresponding silver buckles running horizontally up the arm. The back of the hand has raised ribbing, and there is intermittent stitched ribbing up the gauntlet as well in between the straps / buckles.

Should be a medium brown lightweight cotton twill. The colour of the original is close to Anchor floss #0382. The legs are tucked into the tops of the boots. Belt loops and pockets are irrelevant as they are hidden by the outer tunic.

Laceless calf to knee height boots of dark brown leather or leather like material, each bearing a matching dark brown leather / leather-like shin cover with 1” vertical ribbing from above the instep to the knee. Two horizontal 1" leather straps are equally spaced (1” apart) across the boot at the largest girth of the calf, while a third strap is placed at the ankle.

A pre-armour Darth Vader costume SHOULD have:

A skin tight tapering of the right sleeve or spandex extension of the sleeve below the point where the glove is. This is to aid in getting the glove over the sleeve.

A pre-armour Darth Vader costume MAY have:

A hooded robe made from a light flowing fabric, dark brown in colour (between Anchor #0382 and DMC #3371). The robe is floor-length with large, long (mid-finger length), bell-like sleeves and a large hood. The robe is not lined.
