Star Lord (Peter Quill) build thread

Hey all!

The last year I have worked on a non-SW project together with Andreas(TK-17113).
We have worked maybe 200 hours together on this costume. I'll be putting out pictures from our build, some in each post in chronological order

The whole project started with that I really wanted to build out a non-SW costume and was looking for a character that in some way identified myself with.
What got me started was that I came over a pretty good cast of the helmet. I was a big chunck when I got it and I used almost 30 hours sanding it down before I could start to prime it.
the target of this project is also to make it as screen accurate as possible

Here we go:

Here is a early picture where I was also working on a doopydo E-11 kit


Here I was 80 % done trimming it down


100 % trimmed and first layer of primer applied (this was last summer)


After the primer I bought didn't work so well, and because of a lot of school and work, I put the project on hold until Jan 2016.
Here is the helmet with the main coat before installment of greeblies, lenses, padding, sealer coat and etc.

This costume has a lot of parts, and then I mean A LOT! I got a leather maker to make some of them for me, but some of them still needed much work.
Here are some pictures from un-worked parts! The shoes need leather spats, the pants need leather holsters and greeblies and etc.

Here are unfinished pants, bag, belt, shoes. The orb and gloves are all done


Leather spats contact glued and sewed on to the Sketchers shoes on the picture above


Here are the boots all done and heavily weathered in Star Lord fashion!


Here is the belt. I have worked on it to look a bit used, but it still need heavy weathering


Here is the bag in pristine condition. I am going to give it a used look and weather it heavily as with the other parts

Home after a great weekend at Legoland Billund with people from all over Europe and US

Here are some more pictures from my Star Lord build to catch up on my progress.

More parts getting done


Here is the holsted pads for the pants. These are equipped with clips for the blaster to fit just perfect and pre-punched holes to sew it to the pants.


Here is a picture from the day the jacket arrived! One very GREAT day!
The jacket needs to get bleached in a special way to look more screen accurate and then heavily weathered at the end


And here is a test fit of the helmet. The blitz almost cancels the red leds.
At this point there are only a few greeblies missing and a final touch ^^


At the inside of the outer lenses there are 20 leds installed in a circullar position. Behind those again I have installed some blue lenses to just remove all red light shining into my eyes. So there are only red light shinging outwards

Next post will be of the finnished helmet and a test fit of the whole suit
